Hi all,

Ok I think it is time i move to a Megajolt system, this seems to be the done thing at the moment.

But i am unsure of how to obtain all the items and info i need, plus i am also unsure what is removed and fept from the engine.

do you still retain the dizzy for a trigger or do you fit a blanking plug in the dizzy hole and use a crank trigger?

Can anyone over me a completed kit to buy as i said i do not know what to get and if i can even get in here in Australia, so if not i will need to get it from UK.

anyone got some answers for me?

thanks heaps

Well a good start is to have a nose around www.msefi.com (for the megasquirt anyway). You will probably find an Oz dealer on there. Most US dealers will ship globaly though.

There are lots of ignition options with the squirt, but most of us use the Ford EDIS kit so no dizzy required. Have a look at Nic's Megajolt install guide in the help section too.

Basically the usual answer, do a search its all here.

With MegaJolt you can ditch the dizzy altogether.

With MS it would be easier to use the original coil and dissy as method to deliver the spark (but not timing control).

I can offer complete kits for either :)

i delved in a bit early, and bought stuff befor i'd done enough reasearch so make sure your fully upto speed first,

for example, i'm using a hall effect sensor on a 36-1 crank wheel, and an extra coil driver chip (vb921) in the v3 megasquirt ecu (I'll be running injectors on a 7 port)
this will give me wasted spark running the squirt&spark extra code.

this is great, and has some advantages over the edis controled by megasquirt/jolt/spark, to do with rev limiters, also i just prefer hall pickups too as they just give an on off signal so will work dow to a few rpm.

BUT!! had i realised at the time that the edis will give a fixed 10degree btdc limp home timing, i would have plumped for that.
