Just assembling my rear end, I am using Timken taper bearings, which way round does the seal go, Haynes is a bit fuzzy and it seems wrong to have the lip side away from the grease..

does the flat side of the seal go towards the bearing or does the lip side of the seal go towards the bearing?

OK Thats what it seemed to say, I must say I have never installed a seal with the lip away from the source of oil before...

anyone know why?
