might be a dumb question but which arm do i use? the one that came on the turbo engine is the longer arm, but i was using a shorter one on my old N/A mg 1275. i'm using the shorter one at the moment is this right?

i have no idea on the difference between verto and non, so take it easy on the technical please *wink*

trying to get the clutch bled at the moment as i cant get any pressure until theres about 3/4" of travel left.

cheers, Nick.

briefly....

Verto: shorter arm, diagonally mounted slave, reduced pedal effort, genarally runs a sprung friction plae (except turbo)

Non verto: long arm, horizontally mounted slave, diaphram spring plate, more options available for spring pressure and friction plate combo's

turbos and other metros after 85 (or was it 86) had cable operated verto clutches. all minis had hydraulic ones.

its not a good idea to mix and match these components

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

i think early turbos had a verto hydraulic clutch but pretty sure all std turbos were verto clutched.
Yours could have been modded to fit a non-verto mind as these are much cheaper and easier to uprate plus a lot lighter. (or can be made a lot lighter)

I too thought ALL turbos were verto'd...

They were, before 85 they were hydraulic, after 85 they were cable operated.

AFAIK, ALL Metros were verto.

i think verto came to minis around 80-81, and metros used this system. they had trouble with judder and fitted a damper unit (have one somewhere) until 85 when the cable unit came in.
