I'm picking up a freshly bored 1380 A series 1300GT block with crank and GT rods on payday.

Cooper S rods, as the offset grind takes the journals down to the smaller cooper S size.

i presume you mean S rods? A few of the bigger breakers organisations sell them for about £150-200 a set? You do have to be carefull though as you'll never know what they'll have done in the past. Never ever buy modified ones, ever.

are you going for the 73.5mm pistons ? i think sprite rods can be used too. iam sure i had sprite rods on my 1430. you will need to modify your gearbox by way of die grinding some of the casting back slightly, or the end caps will strike them Edited by Richie on 9th Sep, 2006.

The 1275 Midgets had the same size crank journels as the Cooper S (1 5/8 Inch), also you can buy an entire midget engine for less than a set of S rods on the bay. Isambard Kingdom Brunel said:

the rods themselves are very very strong, i used em for rally x and they were ok :) even nicer if you get em lightened and balanced.

Bud, if you do by a complete Midget Engine, I might be interested in the block & crank, as I need to rebuild the engine in mine at some point and it's always nice to have a choice of blocks & cranks. Isambard Kingdom Brunel said:

right, i've got a set of AEG625's here that i picked up at the weekend, from a rough eyeing up they're the same length as A+ rods but with the smaller journal, so i guess these are the ones to use?

cheers dude, i'll see what happens when i get these AEG521's and see what they look like. al i've been able to find when i google the code is that they're cooper s rods, even though this chap says they're from a spridget.
