My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

Lake District

If you crimp the ends and make them something like 0.8mm or 0.6mm like mine are, you'll see very little drop in oil pressure. It needs to be a "spray", it's not a jet hose ....

Yep - the first 8mm drill hole is done on a drill press / mill (preferably a mill so you can spot-face the area aswell) down about 10mm I recall?
And then you grab a 2/3mm drill and go through at a 15-degree angle or so into the main gallery.

Very easy for a man of your skills :)

I'm thinking of doing this after all the problems we've had this year. Just a few questions.

- Why don't you drill 8mm straight into the gallery?

- is the jet sealed into the block other than it being a tight fit?

cheers

I used a small amount of sealent on my jets to seal them.

an 8mm hole isn't drilled into the gallery as the gallery is not directly below the jet, hence the smaller hole is at a 15 degree ish angle

If you're going to plagiarise, then make sure you plagiarise the best...

You'll find undercrown cooling jets in every decent turbocharged engine of recent times - and every single modern-generation turbo diesel.
It even features on numerous high-performance nat-asp engines like BMW, aswell as more mundane offerings from Ford with the zetec.

You'll still find peeps who say they're not needed, waste of time/money, etc... And they may well have a point.

I do know OEM's dont add cost to anything for no reason. So the reason for an oem fitting them are probably slightly better educated reasons than joe public saying they're unneccesary IMO.

But - you won't find them on MiniWilliams mini, John Flanigans or Tim Hanaby's - ie some of the most powerfull A-series' minis around. So sure - they seem to cope without them.

The descision is completely up to yourself.

Did you get these ones with the 'round' body or the squared body ones then Carl?

yes they are the ones, i just broke on bending it ,lol,

theres not a lot of room to get them in and pointing in the right direction, lots of bending .i have the drilling and tapping all done ,now to get the jets pointing in the right way.iv'e had to remove the tang, so it can be rotated, i suppose to refix the jet to tang its a matter of centre punching radially around the edge where it meets the tang to crimp it back up when its all in place,

other than that no probs and fairly straightforward,
probably looking at 4hrs all in.

Don't centre-punch it - it's way too thin under the top surface. Just position it then spot it with the Mig.

The 'nozzle' is VERY brittle as you've noticed. Heating is the only way you can move them effectivly.
