I've no idea what the translation is, butI can see some references to some bloomin high pressures (2,5 bar / 2.8 bar)???

Boost pressures are probably absolute. ie 1 bar = atmos.

As for the other....pick a silly camshaft, and a reasonably sized turbo.

But would an A-series hold together at that sort of rpm ??

Any cam that would allow it rev to 9k, would probably need to idle at 2500rpm lol

That engine is really cool! i has been inpiresed to do a project like that on a-series. but i reckon that would turn gearbox into chocalate powder in no time.

I think the benefit is that they can optimise the turbo for top end oomph and use the blower for bottom end torque.

170hp and 38mpg from petrol in a golf - not bad.

The Volkswagen 1.4 liter TSI which won the Best New Engine award (2006-international-engine-of-the-year-awards) also took the 1 liter to 1.4 liter engine title by a close margin of 14 points more than the 2nd place winner, the Honda 1.3 liter IMA found in the Civic Hybrid. The engine’s two compressors (a supercharger and a turbocharger) operate at 1.53 bar each, producing a maximum boost of 2.5 bar at 1500rpm. This allows the engine to have 240Nm of torque at a very low 1,750rpm. This engine will be really wonderful to drive in the city. There will also be a light pressure version that makes 140hp instead of the performance version that makes 170hp


Wow - so a 10:1 CR AND a big boost! Direct injection is certainly more interesting with the addition of forced induction....
