I'v jsut built up some metro hubs with new berarings and balljoints only to realise the tapered part is(just) too large to fit in the mini arms..

when i was ordering the balljoint there was 2 on offer, i chose the later ones as those were what was specced for MG metro's. looks like i have the wrong ones. so my question is, will the earlier balljoints fit my mini arms? if so, will they fit my metro hubs?

if none of the above can be done, where can i get a tapere drill bit to open out my mini arms to accept the wider metro ball joint? tbo i'd prefer thsi anyways as thicker balljoints are bound to be stronger *tongue*

leeds/wakefield.

you need early metro ball joints.
unless your as thick as minimark and put your bott arms on upside down and complained the pins wouldn't fit ,lol.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

pre 1983 ones

get a few sets as stocks of these will be drying up

my set up is all metro like yours apart from adjustable btm arms and tie rods

bear in mind that the KPI is a shade different nothing to worry about

also if you are using the mini btm arms you will have minus 1 degree positive camber so you need to sort this either with adjustable btm arms or or buy some 1.5 or 2.5 deg this giving you 0.5 or 1.5 neg camber the choice is yours

if you left the standard btm arms on this would increase the castor some what and "May" give you the Tea trolley affect castor should be checked as well i run 5.5 deg castor and hardly any torque steer

any way hope this helps *smiley* but…………. suspension settings and steering geometry can be a mine field for the in experienced.

runnin gfully ajustable everything mate, and got access to fancy geometry stuff in work. swapping from mini to metro specifically because of the difference in kpi as i can tajsut this currently and want to experiment further. and also the longer steering arms and the affects they will have on bump steer and steering effort:)

on private roads of course! *wink*

meep, its instability at close to 3 figure speeds that made me want to try ot the metro hubs in the fist place. my car is also feels a bit unsettled, but never comes unstick from the tarmac.

cheers for the settings , not too sure what im running right now, set it up before i had access to fancy equipment, jsut experimented wiht it till it felt right and made sure it was the same both sides :)

i know for a fact im running some toe-out at the rear which wont be helping. really ought to ajust that out *tongue*

Minus one degree positive camber? Won't that be 0?? *tongue*

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

vegard you are on good form this morning .
ok i m a confused person .
we put the metro 4 pots and the vented dics on johns mini, and simply put the discs on with a bit of drilling out the holes ,and the 4 pot on with a bit of spacing ,and all is well , is there somethimg i dont know bout all this that makes it necessary to use other metro parts ??
incedentaly ,on my mini i use 1/8th toe out ,1.6 deg neg at the front .1/16 toe out .75 neg at the back . ,and used the tie bars to make it all square front to back ,and packing under the rear subframe to do the same .its great , but it does veer around a bitb at 70 at the pod on the gear change under 10 psi ,wheel spun to the right about a metre ,then to the left the same , i wouldnt mind fixing nthat if i can , or is that just normal mini fun ?

most people utilise the metro drive flanges aswell.. as i did when i ran mini hubs. only tryign the metro items now as a curiosity and a wee experiment to see if i can help with tramlining / torque steer on my 7*13's.
