As well as repeatedly changing clutch oil seals, I've made some progress with the EFI inlet manifold design.

I've now got a 3d solid that I can model in CFD! As you can see it is hollow!

Any comments?

axel , first thoughts , bellmouths inside plenum full roll over design at least 1.5 times pipe dia from facing wall. pipe length max 12 inches from back of valve to bellmouth .taper plenum inlet at no more than 7 degrees ,insulate whole assembly . enter plenum on centerline .
ok thats it , im spent lol
blimmen well done for the creativity when dealing with such a frustrating prob by the way .
regards robert.

Robert,

Thanks for the comments.

I admit that so far I have drawn a shape suggested by TD to scale, but have not referenced any material on intake design.

I'm hoping that the CFD will help to get a good flowing design, but the CFD model will be steady state and will not take any intake pulsing into account.

Can you expand on your suggestions? Have you any science/experiences/books to back them up?

I'm sure we wont mind concieted and pratonising as long as it is constructive. *happy*

Realy want to share this with everyone and get as much input as possible before I start the CFD work.

The end result will be available to everyone.

I've done a bit more on this as it is too cold to go in the barn and build the engine.

Any comments?

It would be if it fitted under the bonnet!

I need to loose about 60mm off the top. I've squeezed it down as far as I can since the above was posted, but it's still 30mm too high.

I also think it will not clear the mirage Manifold, so it has to go in higher at the flange.

Can you see the above drawing? sometimes it wont display on my screen.

how bout putting the injectors on the under side and putting the plenum above the plugs with the tubes curling round in a circle , thats how i was going to do mine when i got to it .?
oh yes i can see the picture. i tried creeping up on it in the middle of the night to see if it had sneaked off but it was still there !! *wink*

The problem with putting the injectors underneath is that the exhaust is in the way.

I'm putting the injectors in line to stop them favouring a cylinder, as they may be staged if I cant get a good idle with all four firing.

I've just finished version 3 but I need to measure up to see if it fits between the engine and bulkhead.

ah i was think ing of on the underneath that became the topside !!!!`lol
as it curves round from above the exhausts and say points at the windscreen on its way round .,,,er did that make sense ?

Sounds like Version 4 coming up!

At least I'll have something to do over Christmas.

Humbug.
