I saw a MINI in a magazine (boring engieering mag about automation drives) and it had a motor in each wheel and a 20kW 2 cylinder engine charging the batteries and a bloody big capacitor for instant high power.

Each motor was 120Kw so that is about 650BHP and 4 wheel drive. Unfortunately it was not road legal because it had no brakes, it used the motors to brake by regening. Very cool.

yeah there is a similar Westfield kicking around up near me, designed for hillclimbing and weighed 350kg all up. Designed and built by an f1 designer Martin Ogilvie of team lotus fameand the car was featured in Race Car Engineering a few months ago.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

it ran a 15.4 i think i remember but that wasnt on full power setting,

(i think they only had everyready batteries, not the longer lasting duracells)
