I will soon get a VW Touran as company car, so the 156 have to go *frown* My plan is to get a MPI-mini for my wife and fun driving. But what can be done with the MPIs to get some more bananas?? I also want to get 10" as it looks so good, would fiesta calipers and 7.9" fit??

First thing anyone should do on an MPi is swap out the lathargic 2.7:1 final drive.

Usualy stage three tuning stuff, LCB, K&N, straight through, gas flowed head stage three ish and deffo not tunnel port. The Kent 274 cam is the only cam you should use as its speciffic to injection. Next to that is big bore. Oh and remove the peice of plastic that stops the throttle opening fully.

Once you add more to the list above, it starts to 'drive' pants

MPis and SPis will never be impressive and a good drive at the same time. Big bore gives easy torque and doesnt change the drivebility, but remember that the MPi blocks are seemingly getting rarer, so much so that i recon they will be as sought after as the Cooper S blocks. Overboring to 73.5 renders the block scrap when its worn, and ther are a LOT of people going this route on MPi's

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Overboring is not an option as long as the engine dosent need it. I am a fan of trying to get the most use of the block, and not get it bored out more than it realy needs :)

yes, but a 3.1 would be more than adequate????

Its realy a personal choice, but the 2.7 a comprimise for a fith gear.
