Am I right that these keyboard logging things exist - and my machine could have one without me realising?

ie - my online banking / paypal / egay / etc.. ID and password could be logged by some tw4t in wherever?

I run Spybot S&D and Adaware occasionally btw -just wanting more experienced peeps to say if this is (or isn't) a real threat to my own pc...

Cheers geeks!*laughing*

They do exist, and they are dead easy to setup...

Best way do is, format your system. so you know everything is fresh. no spyware craps etc. Spyware is biggest problem nowaday, more than virus.

dave from a command prompt type netstat, this will tell you what your computers talking too. Key loggers usually ftp your details somewhere, or email, so close down your email client (as they use there own) close down web browsers for around 20 mins, and run netstat, it should dispay some forign addresses, if you get any strange ones, email them to me.

a bit off topic, but a little while ago i heard of something some boffins had developed where they could tell with about 90% accuracy what you had typed from the SOUND of you typing!!

Ok, bit more off topic,

If I format my hard drive and start afresh, what do I do about the windows valitation, because its already validated to this computer.
Will it know that if I format and have to validate again
(if that makes any sence whatsover!)

sorry guys, you need to run cmd first then type netstat, the amount of things listed is not the bad thing, it just tells you who your computer is talking too
