depends how much power you seek, what sort of power delivery you want.

Given that the old T-series are pretty ancient, it would be worth replacing with a decent GT series.
Potential for better spool, and more power, probably from a physically smaller unit.

The T3's were designed around 30-years ago, the T2/T25 series around 20 years ago, and the GT series have been around for a little over a decade. Naturally - the more modern stuff is an improvement over the older stuff.
However - the GT series are sometimes difficult to acquire spares for, occasionally impossible to rebuild, and compressor maps for anythign other than the 'performance' GT series listed on Garretts website are nigh-on-impossible to find....

There are also many compressors in the 'GT' series that are basically close copies or identical to the older 'T' series compressors however; so in some cases the gains aren't all that significant.

Why difficult to rebuild ??? The small GT series are just standard oil bearings arent they ???

The big GT BB series arent rebuildable though.

I got a quote recently for a GT22, at around £300+vat ( might have required a core surcharge, but not sure )
