i am currently in ther porcess of rebuilding a mini it is going to be a miglia replica with a turbo engine the shell is being done by a friend who races mini sevens but i need help with the engine after something i read on jimsters website. He did not seem to rate MED very highly and this worries me as i have brought a engine from them it is in kit form so luckily i can get someone to check it over the spec is
1293cc
Crank grinded,ni temp,x-drilled,and wedged
Rods lightened and balanced Arp nuts and bolts
Pistons Omega 15cc Forged Piston
Cam T3 Turbo Cam new followers, oil pump and push rods
Duplex Timing Chain
Steel Flywheel and Back plate, orange diaphragm
Head is 35.5 x 30 want to change for 35.7 x 32.0
1.5 Roller tip rockers

What i want to know is who can i take it to to build it? ie Avonbar V-Max Scart or anyone else and what other modifications does anyone recommend as i want plenty of power and dont mind it being lumpy as long as it realiable,it will be trailered to tracks and just used for track work. Any help will be greatful

Spec sounds OK.

Don't bother changing the valve sizes, you won't make much more power but will almost certainly end up with a cracked cylinder head.

Timing chain upgrade to a vernier adjustable setup will aid with setting cam timing correctly.

I can build it for you if required, PM me for more detail.

cheers i may take you up on this i wondered what else i could do to the engine to make as much power as possible, i want to run around 15/16 psi as when people seem to start running 20 or more they seem to be unreliable

As Tom suggests, use smallish valves. I'd use 31mm exhausts with the 35,6 inlets. If using 32s it'll be VERY fragile.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

The main spec is good enough to make 200bhp.

However, you will need a lot of well matched and uprated components to work with the basic engine spec you have listed above to get that kind of power.

I'd suggest getting it built and in a car before going too mad spending money on stuff, then you can develop the motor as you use it and get to know what you would like it to do more/less of.
