If you are building a suck-through system you'll be starting from scratch so you could use any carb you wanted.

the design shows a distinct lack of imagination, talk about starting off with a clean sheet of paper, then not bothering to fucking draw on it,lol On 20th Apr, 2012 Paul S said:

Will a blow through turbo be OK with going suck through. wont the seals need replacing ? 9 valves, 4 wheel drive, 3 cylinders, 1 turbo, which got nicked |

yeah i remember something about that, fuel is going through the turbo, something i wouldnt fancy if your seals started leaking!

Giallofly's carb is 20 years old without a rebuild and running lots more boost than it was designed to take!

i have decided to stick with the normal turbo setup, i am still having to use the turbo off a nova 1.5 td. it will spin up very quickly and still bost enough, i will contact the turbo manufacturers about the temp issues. i need to make a new exhaust manifold, does anyone have any pictures of tubular turbo exhaust manifolds they could send me???

I am looking at doing my own Bini supercharger conversion. In fact I am almost ready to rock. I look as if I have no choice apart from to do it suck through. Lets say that the blower sucks through the carb like a normally aspirated 2L engine. Would you put a 1/3/4" SU on a 2L engine? Sure a Weber is better but you are going to be needing some serious airflow. I have only just thought about this and so I haven't worked out the answers myself but.....It looks to me like a carb for suck through is going to require some serious mods. The books I have read say little about suck through. With a blow through, you just need a needle change (I think). The noise from a Weber is due to one port going "sucksuckgapgap". It makes a kind of odd note. If you put a turbine between it and the intakes, it will shut this right up.
Bugger off, I'm getting there. |

Steven, a stock turbo on a stock engine is sized for that engine. Running even 50% more boost, menas the turbocharger is no longer sized right... Sure it may still make boost, but will be way off the compressor map... Off map = no point...
