If you are building a suck-through system you'll be starting from scratch so you could use any carb you wanted.

The Corky Bell Turbo book has info on suck-through systems.

I'm not sure why you want t o build a suck-through system though? A blow-through system is a much better way of turboing and all the bits are available from a metro making the job easy(ish).

i have got evrything to do the std system, but i want my turbo up near the wiper motor, dont have to cut the bulkhead and its in direct cool air flow.
it seems quite simple how to do it, it was just the carb i wasn't sure on, cos i love the sound of webers and if i can get that and turbo burble ill be proper hapy, lol

i am goin to have to make up an exhaust manifold, turbo brackets and carb mounting flange but apart from that its dead simple. will keep y'all posted on how its goin.

Will a blow through turbo be OK with going suck through. wont the seals need replacing ?

9 valves, 4 wheel drive, 3 cylinders, 1 turbo, which got nicked

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

yeah i remember something about that, fuel is going through the turbo, something i wouldnt fancy if your seals started leaking!

Should of seen gialloflys carb when it was leaking at the RR! Fire extinguisher anyone!

ah, i dunno bout the seals, possibly a problem.
i may go blow through then, just looks messier with pipes everywhere and i will have to cut the bulkhead out.
i have found myself a new turbo tho, its a unit off a 1.5 nova td

should spin up very very quickly! and they still boost to 25psi! cos my bro was using one on his nova 1.7 td(it was nippy! lol)
where is the best place to get pistons from for this engine? i really want 1340 low comp, but std would do if push came to shove.

Steven,
Just to through some more pee on your bonfire. I would check the suitability of diesel turbo unit, they operate at very different temps. I'm sure someone will more experience will tell you more.
Also dont be in a rush to go up in capacity. Unless you've already got a good 1340 block
PS The 1.5 is better than the 1.7, The father in law is putting a 1.5 in a mini as we speak, abou 110hp with 180lb

Giallofly's carb is 20 years old without a rebuild and running lots more boost than it was designed to take!

Has'nt done bad!

i have decided to stick with the normal turbo setup, i am still having to use the turbo off a nova 1.5 td. it will spin up very quickly and still bost enough, i will contact the turbo manufacturers about the temp issues. i need to make a new exhaust manifold, does anyone have any pictures of tubular turbo exhaust manifolds they could send me???
any help is greatly appreciated, thanks

I am looking at doing my own Bini supercharger conversion. In fact I am almost ready to rock. I look as if I have no choice apart from to do it suck through. Lets say that the blower sucks through the carb like a normally aspirated 2L engine. Would you put a 1/3/4" SU on a 2L engine? Sure a Weber is better but you are going to be needing some serious airflow. I have only just thought about this and so I haven't worked out the answers myself but.....It looks to me like a carb for suck through is going to require some serious mods. The books I have read say little about suck through. With a blow through, you just need a needle change (I think). The noise from a Weber is due to one port going "sucksuckgapgap". It makes a kind of odd note. If you put a turbine between it and the intakes, it will shut this right up.

What mods have to be done to a 1/3/4" su for about 140hp? I have read Allards book, Haynes "SC and TC" as well as Vizard and I can't find a reference anywhere. I would rather run a blow through but that would mean putting the blower where the alternator is and vice versa.....baby alternator, etc, etc.

Off to read about SU carbs. stu

Bugger off, I'm getting there.

Steven, a stock turbo on a stock engine is sized for that engine. Running even 50% more boost, menas the turbocharger is no longer sized right... Sure it may still make boost, but will be way off the compressor map... Off map = no point...

As i recall, it's a T1.5 on the Corsa? And they boost around 9psi stock?

Be wary of bar-room experts....
