What cambelt and pulleys are people using?

I have just got myself and head and started clening it up today. What to get cracking get things together asap.

Thinking of doing away with the oil pump and using a remte pump or even dry sump with spray bars in the gearbox!!!

I know for a fact Jimster is using honda pulleys in his conversion. This was chosen for a number of reasons - but one reason was to show that it was very different from any other conversion :)

The only realy big source i know of is Motorworks in Holmsfirth (Last of the Summer Wine)

They are a bit like M&Ms, got stacks of stuff but charge you a small fortune, yet will take stuff of your hands for peanuts

Note that that will not be complete, you'll have to shell out for the cover as well as the cams

Search salvage breakers, and buy a complete engine and sell what you dont need on ebay, that way it should cost you about £100*wink*

i got my K1100LT from Sherlocks with cam's, cover, TB's, ECU, injectors, nuts, bolts, airbox etc etc for £320 delivered to my door. £30 cheaper than motorworks before the postage.

Got more than i needed but they just took it straight off the bike as was.

I thought they were honda pulleys, I was gonna get my head from sherlocks but I bought the one one on ebay with the burnt out valve, cost me £155 and £30 for new valve.

What valves is everyone using? are the standard valves up to the job on a turbo motor?

I don't think you will have any problems with the valves in the std head - the word bomb proof is fully applicable, these heads are built like BMW M motors. Have a read of the RB racing site in the states - crazy power from std BMW lumps in turbo guise. The only other valves available for the heads are of the dodo variety - ie they don't exist! I searched very hard at the beginning of the year - the only option is custom ones.

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

I have Toyota 4age pulleys on mine, only because they had a reasonable offset thus requiring a shorter and lighter adapter. And they were sitting next to me when i started looking at suitable pulleys. Also mine have a round tooth profile opposed to blocks like most older cars. And i paid about £200 for head, cam cover and t/b's from James Sherlock about a year ago.
