I know for a fact Jimster is using honda pulleys in his conversion. This was chosen for a number of reasons - but one reason was to show that it was very different from any other conversion :) On 17th Nov, 2014 Tom Fenton said:

I thought they were honda pulleys, I was gonna get my head from sherlocks but I bought the one one on ebay with the burnt out valve, cost me £155 and £30 for new valve.

I don't think you will have any problems with the valves in the std head - the word bomb proof is fully applicable, these heads are built like BMW M motors. Have a read of the RB racing site in the states - crazy power from std BMW lumps in turbo guise. The only other valves available for the heads are of the dodo variety - ie they don't exist! I searched very hard at the beginning of the year - the only option is custom ones.

I have Toyota 4age pulleys on mine, only because they had a reasonable offset thus requiring a shorter and lighter adapter. And they were sitting next to me when i started looking at suitable pulleys. Also mine have a round tooth profile opposed to blocks like most older cars. And i paid about £200 for head, cam cover and t/b's from James Sherlock about a year ago. |
