Has anyone thought of or know of this conversion?

Im not a big fan of Jap engine conversions in general but this one would surely be a good candidate?

A few years back a mate of mine had one of these with a few tweeks he had 155bananas, ally block so its light weight, 5 speed, 3 cylinder so quite compact!

Anyone know what turbo's they use?

I've seen one in a yellow Mini in the states. It was neat enough but the turbo is at the front of the engine and basically came through the grill. I think they have about 90 stock and yeah are really light.

yeah, a few have been done. I believe they use a tiny IHI turbo. IIRC snowfruit on here bougt a turbo from one.

Didn't they stick this engine in one of the later dihatsus as well?

Ah yes, you can get a Sirion X4 that is 4WD and has about 120bhp. It's a turbo 3 cyl and it's about 999cc. Probably the same engine. Think it's exclusive to the Japanese market though.

Sounds liike the same one, GTti had about 100 bhp, 3 cylinder, 12v.

They were pretty quick, certainly gave my R5 a run for its money!
