Lowestoft, Suffolk.

Hi all, lookin for a little help wit the above, can someone please post up a few pics of how to fit and secure a removable front end, I have a few ideas, but someone else may have used a simpler, method. Also could someone give me the dimensions for the position of the bulk head box. Planning a lock-in in the garage this weekend wit the mig welder, want to get as much done as poss.*happy*

heres what i have on my car

ive bolted a panel onto the A panel and have fixed anchor ruts to the back of that


then the front end fits over these and some slinky domed bolts then fix it in place

Don't wanna steel the thread but has anyone managed to remove there existing front end in one piece and remount it as a flip front?

Thanks for that, much appreciated. I had a go at removing it all in one, the prob I had after cutting all the necessary seams was seperating the wing from the scuttle, not sure if it was welded or corroded together, gave up trying, and purchased new panels.

Would someone do me the favour of nipping out to the garage with a tape measure and and tell me how far the left hand edge of the bulk head box is from the centre of the hole for the engine stabiliser bar please, soon would be great as now headed out in the garage! Thanks all!

If you look on the link above, on page 2 of the link Tom has put a pic on of his fitted (red engine bay), the gap between the left hand side of the box (veiwed from the front) is approx 10-15mm from the edge of the plate the master/clutch cylinders sit on.

And as a guide notice the position of the grommet above, I think the cable from the heater goes through normally, its right above the edge of the left hand side of the box.

Its not an exact science just make sure you get the angle of the right hand side correct otherwise its a tight squeeze to get the actuator in! *wink*
