I would like to know what are the two cover plate (one is seal, and one has a tube, like a breather) located at the back of the block just below the exhaust ports for?

I would like to block off the vent by replacing a plate, is it ok to do so?

If it is a breather for the crank case, can i use the valve cover instead?

many thx

Use the breather on the rear as well if you've got the room. The general consensus is; fit as many breathers as you can.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

those are the tappet covers,

only small bores and S block had them, if the block was sold to you as a turbo one (just a guess as your on this forum) then it isn't.
