i was hoping to get some work started on the car in the next couple of weeks, but after i got back from mini 45 at sandown i noticed that i had no pressure on the (drums all round.) brakes. i knew one of the cylinders was leaking a bit and thought a new cylinder and bleed would sort the problem. price ? 50
i got a call from the garage telling me to come down and see my car.
all i can say is i am glad i didn't have to brake hard recently,
4 out of 6 wheel cylinders knackered, 3 leaking, one seized completely.
revised cost ?200
i am now skint.
bloody car.. i love it though.
anyone else had the same sort of experience lately??

I will be in around 2 weeks...

I was forever replacing wheel cylinders on my minis way back when i was running drums... Get rid of them and get some 8.4" discs and 12" wheels - or machine them down and fit fiesta calipers instead to retain 10"

i am also feeling the pressures of bulding my car again and have been left with an empty wallet. So if anyone could give me this weekends winning lottery results it would help me :)

i like the idea of 7.5 discs and 4 pots but with my income i doubt it will happen,
the fiesta calipers idea sounds cool, i would like some info too.
sounds like i may be a ble to stop eventually

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Think billydude is the expert on this! See if he'll write a "how to" to save it being asked a million times, there maybe one in the faq of miniowners

there's a couple of pic's of my brake's in the link below

the basic's are
mk1 fiesta calpier and mounting bracket
metro vented disc drive flange
standard 8.4" disc's turned down to 7.9"

I find they work great very close if not just as good as the standard 8.4 setup
the only real difference noticed when driveing is the brake's feel more progressive and less aggressive
*smiley*

I have a spare pair of calipers if anyone's interested *wink*

?20 + postage ?

you'll need disc brake hub's aswell

solid 8.4 disc's are all that can be used with the mk1 caliper's
machineing I drove around with a disc and got a couple of quote's from small engineering shop's the first place was ?15 a disc *blush*
but I found a dude to do them for a tenner the pair *wink*

the brake pipe's are a pain in the ass but easily sortable
