Not very sunny swanage

due to my problem of not being able to leave anything that i own alone my sensible astra will soon be getting a 2 litre conversion, then very soon after that a set of yamaha r1 throttle bodies (ebay special!!!) i am doing a lot of reading at the mo, and learning as i go, but i know one or two of you have a bit of experience in these departments......

I will be making up the manifold itself, which will have to be quite short to allow it to fit in before the bulkhead, which in itself is no problem, but i do have a couple of queries which some of you may be able to help me with......

Are there any issue with me running the throttle bodies upside down? (can see any probs myself, but am will to be told otherwise...) i ideally need to do this to get the injector spraying straight on the back of the inlet valve. from what i have read, this is the next best thing, IF you cant get the ideal runner length, (which i cant due to bulkhead constraints)

I intend to get this running with megsquirt, but after doing some reading, it seems that there may be some problems wih sensors.... the throttle bodies already have a map sensor, and a tps on them, assuming i can get megasquirt to talk to these ok, is there anyreason i cant use them? it seems some people have had problems with map seosors on one butterfly per cylinder engines, but presumabaly as these are balanced and already fitted it would stand to reason that it should be ok???

An area that i havent delved into at all yet, is the injectors, for ease of use, i would much rather use the existing set up already on the car, but realistically this isnt going to be easily achievable. this leaves me with the r1 injectors already attatched..... are these going to be suitable for the new use? (max nanas likely to be 170-180 tops, revving to 7kish (standard bottom end....) basic logic says yes, but like i say, i havent really delved into this area deeply at all yet.....

Cheers guys......

Pete

And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers!

Cumbria

My tb's on the XE were upside down to clear the bulkhead / allow space for an air filter.
Works fine :)
