Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

hard to say without seeing it

any dumpvalve can be fitted to your Turbo metro

the vacume line is T in to the the servo line, and the dump valve is usuallly welded into plenum chamber

have a look on the forsale section i think giallofly AKA john flannigan is selling the plenums already converted to accept a dump valve

baily dump valves seems a good choice!

there are so many diffrent ones on the market out there now adays

blitz is another popular choice

Now that we're on this subject, is there any types/brands that are not suitable because of fuel contanination? Mine came with the carb I bought off ebay but might change it at some point.

I know some people found that the Bailey piston type dumpvalve sometimes stuck. This was apparentley due to fuel vapour swelling the seal. I'm sure there's a different type of seal available to solve this problem though.

Yeah I know Avonbar supply special seals with their bailey ones that resist swelling but just wondering if any ebay purchase will do. I guess I'll find out!

i had a bailey one, it was fine when it was upside down, but when i put it the right way up it seized open

ive tried avonbar twice and the new seals that everyone talks about arent available

so i tried bailey so i could get a new seal and sell it on, but they will only do a recon service for £30, and ill i want is one piddly seal

Gated type dump valves are the best, most popular and most trusted on performance turbo cars here, I run one on my car, my particular one is made by DragR here in N.Z...is all polished alloy exept for interal gate and its twin trumpet...extremely loud !
There is one new type of design dump valve now on the market...will let ya know if i can remember what it called.

Think the seals were made of viton (spelling?) and i'm sure i found a place on the web that supplied them in all kinds of sizes for a couple of quid, might be worth a shot.

Yea im pretty certain they would be Viton, if you can find some made out of Kalrez it would last longer, much more stable at high temperatures. *wink*

so, what's the general concensus on which is better; piston or diaphragm? I heard diaphragms rip, but it seems like pistons stick.

oh yeah, and just watched the clip of the m3 turbo. The sound you are hearing there isn't a dump valve, it's wastegate chatter.

The way to get that, is to block the overboost valve in the plenum, set the boost pressure on the actuator (think it needs to be over 10psi to get the noise properly) and go for a rag.

AlexBs car sounds pretty similar to that and he doesn't run a DV and is on about 12psi.

Wrong Ric I am afraid.

The fluttering noise you hear is in fact turbine stall, as you shut the throttle and the pressurised air then travels back to the point of lowest pressure, which is the air intake trunking from the air filter. To get there it has to travel past the turbine blades, even though the turbine is still windmilling from exhaust gas.

In summary, even though it sounds pretty cool, it is NOT GOOD!

Ahh, i knew that could happen, it didn't realise that was what it sounded like. The two sounds are quite similar then or am i getting confused.
