Is there a way of calculating the theoretical max maximum ignition advance for a set engine spec? Or is it all down the uniqueness of the engine, thus only place to find it is on the rolling road?

If there is such a calculation, what’s the formula?

Testing is the only way.

As there are too many places were the Max Adv isnt right.

Try 28 degrees and play from there.
