Hello agaiin
I have now connected a standard mini 998 gbox to my turbo block; and am using the 998 end casing ..
this of course means that I am one breather short !!!

q) wjill the engine work correctly using just one breather with a KN sitting on it ?

I thought that the pressue the breathers maintained was important to this finely balanced set up that is the MG Metro Turbo engine !!

*wink*

Use a hole cutter and cut the hole out, sorted!

Is a 998 gearbox really going to be upto taking the beating that a turbo will give?

nothing wrong with using the 998 gearbox, and in reallity, it's proberly had an easier life than a turbo gearbox so should be in better nic.

I would also be interested in any ones knowledge about breathers.

I've got one as well. it's on the flywheel housing. I could probably get one fitted on the rocker cover, but is is worth it?

Something i wondered too!

I wsa going to connect both "can" style breathers onto the rocker cover then have one out of there to a catch tank. Seemed a neat way of doing it.

On one engine i had there was a breather to a catch tank from where the fuel pump was. Obviously not easy on a turbo as thats where the turbo oil drain is.

this is really worrying me
we can all make mods to rocker covers and vent to atmosphere etc

BUT

I did read somewhere that the turbo set up was fussy about having a certain pressure maintained below the crank ;
if this was the case then removing one breather or making other mods would chnage this balance ..

if you think about it with so mush positive pressure in the inlet and chambers; some pressure back the other way could be bebeficial beneath the pistons

OR

am i talking complete crap

Any comments most welcomed

Basically you want no pressure really in the bottom end otherwise you start pushing oil out the clutch seal etc.

A turbo breathing system is the same as any other engine!! *happy*

The only acts inside the combustion chamber etc so breathing plays no part in it.

The carb must be correctly plumbed however to ensure that it is correctly presurised

Hi
When you say the carb must be plumbed in I assume you are talking about the fuel regulator now ...

Yeah, no breathers on the carb! Just mean getting the fuel regulator etc plumbed in correctly. *smiley*

Breathers sorted!
