Reasonably good rule - Apart from the head studs and thermostat studs? I think they're the only exceptions however?

Actually - Isn't the speedo-drive retaining bolt some wierd thread aswell?

oh yeah, forgot about the head studs and thermostat studs, arn't the rocker studs holes UNC too?

but basicly it applys for all the general fastenings.

dunno what the oil pressure relief valve is though, but i'd guess at 3/4" UNF

Oh btw i've got a 5/8 UNF tap which wont go into that banjo hole, however when i measured the bolt it indicated it was a 5/8 unf. Ive not had time to check it again since.

It's 1/4 UNC infact. The only one on the entire engine.

Both the rocker post studs and the ol filter holder are UNC, and I do think that the fuel pump is as well?

However, a good rule is UNF in iron/steel and UNC in aluminium.

BIR1 was full of 8mm though. Shame on you Mark!! *angry*

I'm pretty sure that they are still imperial, but a different size / thread to the older blocks. I had fun trying to find an adaptor to put an oil cooler on my original engine, in the end good old Think Autos helped me out.

Joey,

What could you possibly want to know all these thread sizes for? If I wasn't a noisy busybody I'd say you were making some custom adaptors.

Slightly side tracking but does anyone know how long the gearbox to engine bolts are?

I'm planning on picking up a set of cap head bolts from Merlin Motorsport on the 28th.
