Hi Guys,

Found a brand new turbocharger in the garage that I didn't know was there, ID plate has the following No's
WA0599A
466770-5
K674AF03

What's it off? I suspect either a Montego or Maestro Diesel.

Cheers

Graham.

I think it's a 55 or 60-trim compressor, with the 0.35 A/R turbine.

Should be worth a try. Will certainly spool up nicely :)

What should I do rebuild my T3 metro turbo as it starting to smoke or make a manifold & give this one a try?

What spec is your engine / are you planning on it being in the near future???

And are you handy with a welder and spanners?

The answer to the above will allow us to determine the best answer for your abilities and requirements.

Engine is currently a standard 1275 Metro turbo lump, I haven't fully decided what engine spec I will go for when the rebuild starts but it's likely to be pratical for money reasons as I don't want to keep striping the thing down. Currently looking for a simple set up of say 1293cc, already got a stage 3 head but will add dump valve, uprated actuator & run it sensible around 8psi. Current turbo is shot and smokes so will need rebuilding but I have the new one mentioned but it's phyiscally a lot smaller & more compact than the Metro T3 turbo.

Hands on experience is no problem as i'm an apprentice served toolmaker by trade but now director of an engineering & fabrication company, I have access to any machine tools I require & can get someone to manufacture my parts for free:)

Thanks Robert, disregarding that the T2 turbo I have is new & I will need to rebuild the T3 Metro one i'm currently running which is better? What are the advantages & disadvantages of using either?

Thanks.

probably half the people on here use t3 and the other half use t2. its been disscussed do a search. but i think most the people that have changed to a t2 have not been dissapointed.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

going a bit off topic here, has anyone who had tried a T2 gone back to a T3?

graham ,
i think the advantage to using a t2 is that ,because it has a smaller lighter turbine , it reacts faster to your putting down the pedal , so reducing boost delay . this is good if you have the grip and car that can use more instantaneous boost . ,on the other hand . the heavy wheel in the t3 ,has more momentum , and so when you change gear the wheel slows down less ,and so you get a bigger kick in the next gear ,and a small boost peak , this can be good of bad again depending on the car setup . efficiency wize , i dont think theres a lot to choose from the t2 to t3 , the step in eff comes with the gt turbo range like wot i got .although some of the gt range use t2 parts . both turbos will give you a lot of power ,and that 37 mm inducer t2 should be good , id go with that ,specially as jim does conversion plates and all the other probs are well documented on here .

Why not just mount it on the Metro Turbo manifold, as a few of us have done ? Job sorted !!

I could manufacture the adaptor plate just to mount the T2 onto the Metro manifold but making the manifold complete it would look similar to Mirage one.

What OD & wall thickness tubing is recommended? or is it ID & wall thickness?

Why go to all the trouble of making a manifold, when the Metro one will do the job ?

I see your point but why do people buy Mirage manifolds if what they already have could be modified to do the job?

All i need do is the drawings & I can get the mainfold fabricated where I work.

no bulkhead cutting is needed with the mirage kit, dont know if the bulkhead needs to be cut when using the metty manifold and t2 tho.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.
