No. Swap the early subframes with a good friend, and solid mount the correct ones with brackets available from the Mini specialists. MUCH easier. This only applies to the front though. The rear "old" one will fit easily.

Also, red subframes is a bit Chavtastic *wink*

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

I suppose you could mod the bulkhead cross member to take the 2 skinny bolts of a pre 76 subframe. I'd imagine an erly subframe in good knick would fetch a better price than a big bolt one so why not sell it 'n buy one that'll bolt straight on? I'd be inclined to keep the rubber mounts under the floor if your min's destined for the road - less noise 'n vibration.

Thanks, got the powder coating done free, well actually a pint down the local so cant grumble, hope it wont look chavvy cant stand them, should look ok on a black mini, my mistake not that eary front subframe with two bolts just the large single will this still fit as it is from a 1970 clubman estate.

1970 Clubman estate SHOULD have a twin bolt subframe.

The change over occured in 1976. POst 1976 cars have a single large tower bolt, and the pedal box with larger pedals.

However, it is possible that someone swapped an earlier ID onto a later car to make it tax exempt.

Of cause didnt mean 1970 meant 70's, reg of estate was ROL 239Y what ever age it is, it was given to me for free and was gonna use it to build a marcos but things changed, i worked out with the money a was going to spend on the marcos i can build a fully kitted mini which i wanted in the first place i had stripped and painted the parts to a good finish and am due to put them into my 1994 mini40 soon. Along with the estate i was lucky to get a mk 3 cooper s engine along with brakes, the engine is being stripped and rebuild to put in the mini 40 and using the A+ block which is in my mini now and turn it into a turbo motor when funds allow.
