Price will be cost + 10% for effort.

Oh and yeh, the one in the pic above is a trial template. They will be made of ally. LOL its very similar to the Mini Mania one, but a little different. They are going for $109.

Silly question but what are the benifits etc of fitting something like this. I did try a search but didnt quite get my head round the benifits when reading the thread.

All valid points.

Windage trays prevent the crank sloshing through splashed oil from the sump from the gears or surge during cornering. This does two things. It reduces windage (LOL) and should be good for a couple of hp on high power engines but it also reduces the amount of oil vapour produced.

The main reason im making one is for the 1400 where bore flex was that noticable, the machinist noticed flex when clocking the bore next to the one he was machining, ring seal is not the best and the 1399 was notoriuos oil burners. Preventing asoil splash onto the bores from the sump should, in my fuzzy theoritical logic, reduce this oil consumption. It makes it easier on the oil rings?

Its kind of a half way house to dry sumping

As for the center strap, i dont see why not. I havent got a strap yet, that will be in the next few weeks. so will tell you then. But, im sure it will as these are fitted to high power race engines.

As for the benifits and as to whether its worth having one its up to you. Im making one for my self, be a shame not to get a few run off if people actualy want one.

The very same chap who said that making your own exhaust manifold was not hard, based on "watching them doing it on the TV".

I pointed out that I had watched Jamie Oliver on the TV but that didn't make me a good chef!!

its true about the trays made out of an old washing machine, but anybody suckered into the 'does anybody want a windage tray debate' didnt know at the time that they were going to be made out of old bits of washing machine... it was his post when he anounced that he'd have to source more metal other than his old washing machine when mr morspeed and others bowed out... LOL!!!

i know all this as i was seriously concidering posting, or maybe i did, untill i noticed that it was charchild who had made the post... i'll leave it there

I have heard some one else say this, yet, looking through the website, there is no mention of them.

Linky please, as that would save me making my own in the first place.

Interesting though, the MiniMania (Minispares) item is $109

Mine will cost what it costs and a little extra for the labour to put the bends in it. Im not doing it for profit.

That looks a bit high in the case mate, the ones I make are actually lower than the centre web and the crank only just clears.
There is no point in having it cover the CWP side of the web as any oil is splashed downwards.
Paul

I seriously doubt it!
