I hope this is a new topic, i cannot find anything related to this topic in the search tap.

I have a 998 block, and want to change the twin carb 1.25 into one hif 44 metro turbo carb... 1 3/4"

Is it too much fuel for a 998?? or should i go with a hif 38 1 1/2" carb

Probably a bit much for a NA. A 38 will be better suited.

all depends what you want 1 3/4 is a bit big for a 998 unless its a screamer, but works well on a 1098 or 1275 na

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

What if i change the needle to a bigger size, narrowing the orfice of the jet on the hif 44, will it be ok for 998cc??

I do not have hif 38 or any 1 1/2 carb, the only thing i have in hand is hif 44 metro turbo carb. I do have a set of twin carb 1.25 but i hate the fact that it is twin carb, it is far more complicated to adjust the same flow for the engine.

why not put it on then take it to a rolling road, fit the 38 first and see what power you get, if its faily standard then stick with this.

how ever if its a bit hoter like biger valve head hot cam then try the 44.

i heard 38 is just right from the top to bottom end., 44 is good for torque, but the bottom end is weak, due to lots of air flow though carbs,

If it is all you have then stick it on and see how it goes. It sound like that is what you need to do to answer your question. I don't think anybody here has tried it on a NA 998 and we are just advising from our experiance.

The problem is that with the 44 on it will definately need a RR session which costs money and may well show that the 44 does not work very well. However, I think all on here can gurantee that a 38 will work and the RR sesion will not be wasted.

I for one would be interested in seeing what a 44 is like on a 998. Just so then we know what to expect.
