Are there any differences between the subframes of auto and manual minis? Got told that a manual engine will sit lower in an auto frame??

the autoframe is wider where the engine sits, you will need some spacers to make it fit in on the mounts

My brother bought a mini with an auto subby,

it had an ally plate under the drivers side engine mount about 10mm thick ( i think it was about 10mm it was like 10 years ago)

Basicly that side of the subframe is different due to the torque convertor need ing a bit of room.

im using an auto subframe , i have both sides engine mounts spaced up by 5 washers ,and i had to redrill a hole for the mount on the passenger side ,as far as i can remember .

I am also using an auto frame, its not worth the ball ache in my opinion and I shall be swapping to a standard one at some point in the future

I have a mk1 auto subframe fitted to my minus, want to fit manual transmission back in, (or have an auto turbo, but doubt the box will survive!) just thought I would ask before I find out the hard way!
I can live with fabricating some shim plates for the mounts. can you guys (when you get 5 mins) measure what thickness shims you have for me please, its been suggest about 10mm on one side or 5 washers (how thick?)
Could i not drop the engine in and drill new holes lower down? Or does the engine not sit that much lower to warrent this?

Mega thanks for that, was that 5 per side? also why did you have to drill the hole on the pasenger side?
