has anybody tried trimming a few thou of the teeth on straight cut drops to make them quiet , and did it work ?, im thinking of the bit in the old floppy viz book where he talks about doing this on the teeth of the sc box .

There is a guy in Cullumpton (sp) Devon who cuts cogs and if you paid him, he'd cut you a set of double helicals |>>>>|, according to a guy I spoke to who used him to make a load of special gears for some food machinery. Bugger off, I'm getting there. |
