Hi there,
I know there is a search feature and used it,
I found a lot of info regarding the HIF44 Turbo but I want to make sure I understood correctly.

I have the STD HIF44 carb.
to convert to a Turbo carb all I need to do is but a Turbo Service kit for it and then its read?
or am I missing anything?

Thax

In theory - yes. You could do it without even rebuilding it first, but this is reccomended as the youngest carb is over 12(?)+ years old, it's worth doing.

You will need an appropriate needle of course, and you have a choice of either machining the body to accept the dashpot seal - OR - using a thin smear of sealant between the body and dashpot.

Hi Turbo Dave,

Thanx for the info.
I will get the groove machined and thats no problem.
in general (just as for my curiosity) the biggest difference regardless to the needle is actually the seal on the dashpot?

Also if you have a suggestion for which needle I should use (I will install a small Garrett T15) it would be great.

Thanx again

Start with a BDD (metro turbo needle). You will need to remove material foo the needle, as you'll be boosting earlier, but that's easier than putting mateial onto the needle... *wink*

no. It is a groove in the main body of the carb.

Hmm..
I thought i could just mount the dashpot assy. in a lathe and cut a groove, mounting the carb body may cause headache.
Grr
