First of all which is the best brake setup to use 7.5 vented or 7.9 vented system for track days? As far as my knowleage takes me the 7.9 vented setup should be the ultimate however I am under the impression that this will cause an issue with the fitting of 10 inch wheels, and may or may not be any better that the vented 7.5 setup. Is this true?

Secondly the car is currently fitted with the 8.4 inch disk setup. Do i need to change the drive flanges etc or can i just replace the 8.4 calipers / disks with the 7.5/7.9 version?

Thanks for your help in advance

I am currently running 7.9 vented disks with alloy 4 pot calipers and have to say they are pretty good (with no servo). They went straight on to the standard drive shafts i had and run perfectly on my 10X6 rims.

Heres a pic of the 7.9 setup im using

I take it that is the minipsort kit? How are you finding them? I know bud has some issues fitting them to a friends car, did you manage to get all of the air out of the system ok?

Yeah that is the minisport kit. I had a lot of trouble to start with, the kit fitted fine but bleeding the system and getting all of the air out was a right pain in the arse. Took ages and i ended up replacing the break master cylinder as well.

I only drove the car for 500 miles before it came off the road again and the breaks seemed ok in that period.

Bear in mind that apart from the vented disks being machined to 7.9mm the also need some 600 thou? removed from where they bolt to the mini drive flange, not a problem if you buy the disks modded, but i thought i'd save some money and mod the disks my self for my Kad 6 pots... much head scratching!!

Also I have to recomend Mintex 1144 pads, mr Fenton finally made me decide upon these and they are very good, far far better then the EBC's they replaced on my std S setup. although they could run a little on the cool side with a vented setup on a road car.
