I worked under there today, fixing oil leak. and this thought occured to me,
why not i fit the brace bar from front subframe to other side, it would stop flexing, under hard cornering, it would improve handling.

Or is it so strong it doesnt need one?

Only prob is brace bar would sit low beacuse of diff cover, gearbox linkages.

what is your thinking on this?

I personally don't think you would find a noticable difference, as the subframe is fairly stiff already.
Although seam welding the subframe is probably beneficial if you are thinking on that track?

IMO it is not "NEEDED" on any car, but it is one of those little easy to do modifications that all add up to the greater goal when a car is finished.

So, how much does it flex?

Once you have cut the bulkhead to let in the turbo box you have lost most of the stiffness from the body, but the stiffness between the towers of the subframe is pretty good so I don't think a brace will make much difference.
