The vacuum advance pulls the timing up when on part throttle, when the engine comes onto boost the timing will go back to standard (centrifugal only) advance according to engine speed. However the dizzy that JF had for sale if I am right has a special vacuum can, that "pulls" the baseplate under vacuum to advance, but also works in the opposite direction under boost to "push" the backplate to retard timing. The standard vac can has a stop in it, so under boost it just hits its stop and goes no further.
