A 2.0HP 50L compressor should be OK, look for the CFM (flow) rating, you want 9 CFM or more.

That's what I've used in the past, plus a second one to run the air mask.

:EDIT: Best add that the air mask requires more air than my 1.8mm JGA paint chucker.

Swindon

I got 2, 25 litre 4cfm ones the same and joined the tanks together.

so I can have 50 litres 4cfm or 8cfm

Comes in handy if I want to take one around the other garage

I like nice quiet girly Minis

Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

I used a 50l 2HP Draper for many years with good results but that was with cely paint.

For 2pk you'd need plenty extra to deal with the air fed mask you'll want if your going to live to paint another!
I prefer to have a second compressor as Rob says, outside or at least well way from the being sprayed as there is no point in having an air fed mask if all your doing is recirculating the iso fumes.

I would suggest that getting a decent compressor and the best spray gun you can afford that will run from it and a cheap compressor for the air fed mask as it doesn't need to be too special. A better bet than buying a spending it all on a bigger single unit if your going to use 2pk.

Bare in mind that from Jan 07 you will have to start thinking about using water bourne paints which need lots of equipment to help with the much longer drying times. From Dec 07 it is water bourne is likely to be the only thing you can buy over the counter!!

I went to 350l and twin 3hp pumps but that was mainly to deal with the die grinders I use for head work. I use the old Draper for the air fed on top of that. Even then I can't work for long without having to take a break.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...
