When i built my mini i used brand new calipers and braided hoses and disks and everything, but i just got the standard mini ones. They are like a gold colour, if you remember the photos that id fitted them upside down!

it stops quick enough and im really happy with the brakes, it even stops better than the cooper sport.

I have the vented disks off the metro turbo though that are also in good condition, have good disks and pads with them. Someone wants to buy them this weekend though including the whole hub and everything.

How much would i get for my brakes that i currently have on my mini if i were to sell them, and then fit the vented 4pots to my mini? would they not be worth very much? i need the money more than anything really

thankyou!!

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

neither here nor there i'd say.

but i'd prefer new brakes to stop my car getting smashed up than second hand ones.

Choice between keeping known brand new stuff on your car, or fitting second hand stuff, history not really known?

Not really a hard choice IMO.

plus you will need new hoses for the mutro stuff

the metro hubs will bugger up your geometry

and theres more unsprung weight

sell the 4 pots whilst you have the oppotunity

I like nice quiet girly Minis

You only really need the 4 pot vented stuff if the car sees lots of track action IMHO. On the road you might find them worse as they will never get up to temperature (well not without a copper following you at speed that is).

I ran some on my car for a while and took them off in faviour of non vented 4pots. To my mind the best brakes you can bolt under a Mini are

4 pot non vented 8.4" (mainly for the extra pad area)

(alloy calipers are nice and light but so will your bank balance be .... useful for the track but you'll not really notice the lower unsprung mass on a road driven car)

S drums out back

Again Super Minifins are nice to have but not cheap, basically same points as alloy calipers IMHO
I run discs on my car ... but that's all about the bling baby ...*wink*

Late tandem master cyl (front rear split)

No servo is needed and I prefer the pedal feel of a servo less system.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Thankyou for your expert opinions i really appreciate it. I will keep the brakes i have and sell the metro ones, it does stop really well.

I am running them on synthetic brake fluid too because everything was new when i put the car together.

I have some minifin rear drums, but i havent fitted them yet after seeing one cracked before on a car i bought
