My little sis wants a new car, she has about £800-1000 to spend.

Now, shes only 18, so a 998 would be best, but we'd consider any mini.

Anyone got anything?

cheers

Nic wanted me to ask if you've got any pictures of her.
Sorry Nic. I just couldn't keep it secret.

she does 60 miles a day to college and back - so it has to be reliable enough for that. rather not have to do any work on it tbh!

60 miles?! What way does she go to college?!

I'm sure you have already mate, but just comb ebay and the forums. There are so many rot boxes about you have to buy with real care. You know all this already though...

ive got an 85 998cc mayfair auto, taxed untill end of december, still mot'd (can't remember till when off top of my head.) its in blue, starts and stops fine. Has'nt been looked after by the previous owner and havent had the time to sort it completly myself. It's had the back seats removed. Could really do with a new front end as parts of it are in primer where he has filled it. For some reason it runs hot, no idear why, but its never overheated on me!
£150 to you alex or it'll just end up as my turbo donor shell.

Why doesn't she go for a golf or a polo coupe instead? You know the cars inside out, they're safer and easier to work on. Still pretty cool too.

pretty expensive to insure at 18, but wicked cars. Can i have a go if she gets one? *wink*

Cracking little 1.3 crossflows in them, they just suffer from blocked oil breathers (as you know all too well!!)

Our lasses Polo 1.0 will be up for sale soon due to car changes at Spannerbitch HQ, should fit the bill perfectly. In 3 years it has not missed a beat, and apart from a new exhaust section from old age, a set of brake pads, a tyre or two, and servicing, I haven't had todo anything else to it.

Considering she is doing 60-odd miles a day I would not even entertain a £1000 banger mini for her. Something more modern with fuel injection etc and no rot problems come MOT time is a MUST.

PM me if you want any more info buddy.

I knew you would have something to say on this matter Nic. Lol

Alex, you know full well that you would end up doing the maintenance on it..having your own mini/forum.

60miles a day is alot, especially for a mini!

Mk1 golf on the other hand...Doooo Ittttt. *wink*

I reckon it would require a days worth of TLC (I'm sure Nic would volunteer to fix it for a young lass) but this could be a real bargain:

Somewhere around Swindon

i agree with Tom 60miles a day 365 requires a more robust mode of transport
