Hi, looks good, but chop off those oversills before sandblasting, I guess you will find loads of horrid stuff under those...

Will do....I need a Turbo Mini Van.. *wink* I punched through a corner of the sill and I didn't find another sill underneath, so assumed they'd been fitted correctly. Out of interest what makes you think their oversills? I'm off to do some more on it now so will cut through the other sill and have a look.
Cheers,
Mark

It is an oversill as the "ventholes" are not holes, but just a bump in the sill. you can see this in your 3rd pic. a real sill looks like this: yes its a bad pic, but you can see the vent to the left of the cage mount

Ok I understand, thanks for the pic Andre. Could they have used oversills instead of using outer sills...suppose it could be possible?! Haven't attacked to fine out as I've been scraping.

The chap has given me a rough price of shell inside and out (£200) four rear doors and two sides for £100. plus some £'s for priming. This was with me taking all the underseal and seam sealer off the the car.

Heres a pic I've just taken, there doesn't seem to be an old sill under the oversill!

Anyway back to scraping....:(

it is possible that there is not an old one under it, but still, its a bodge, as its not meant to be like that...

Car deliveried last Saturday to a nice chap in Wotton under edge. He uses a course grit by the sounds of it so won't touch the sides or roof, he'll only do the seams.

Quote is £85 ish which with the doors, bonnet etc is very very good. He seems a very nice chap. Will post better pics when she's back in 3 weeks time.

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

bloody hell thats a decent price

good work for saving the van! if the sills are that bad then pop genuine ones on it you can, however over sills have been used by myself in the past as a 'will do' measure, but id always pop on genuine ones if i was going to any degree of effort

That's one hell of a panel list! Actually my '73 saloon sheel was in a similar state but I took the easy (cowards) way out and got a new shell, bonnet, boot, doors and subframes. And it still took me 7 years to get it finished!
