when trying to be a real clever sod boring a hole through the crank tail all the way to the web,
is firstly not to get the drill bit stuck 3/4 of the way down,
and to stop short of the main journal so as you don't bore through the oil passage to the big end, doh, an alloy plug walloped down the bottom of the hole should cure it ,lol.

strangly enough paul ,i didn't collect all the swarf and fooking weigh it ,lol.

but i'll guess the hole has saved me at least 3kgs, not!!!

and finally it went back in tha lath and machined about its periphery.
you'll notice it along the b/ends if you look closely.

I have about 4 pads of paper with lists of everything Ive lightened or re manufactured with the weight before I started and after I finished.
Im surprised you havent done a similar thing actually.
Once after drilling something I realised I hadnt weighed it before hand, and I did collect the swarf and weigh it.LOL
