Just seen these pistons on sale quite cheep, I know you get what you pay for but would they be any good for a turbo engine just a thought.

Dont forget, we also get charged far too much for stuff in the UK for a variety of reasons.

I bought a set of forged rods for my V8 for $450....

Try that in the UK... for 4 !!!!

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

So are the grapes worth the squeeze then, i thought they looked reasonable and at a good price but thought i would ask you guys first. Thinking of buying them to build a 1380 n/a then develop into a turbo motor are these pistons comparrable with omega, accralite etc and would these pistons cope with the temps etc of a turbo engine.

i reckon they are,

they are probably similar to omegas in terms of strength as they are cast and the top ring is a similar distance down the piston, (per haps a tad more as far as i can see without measuring) remember the accralites are forged so you can't really compare them to these.

Other things that are quite nice is they give a figure that can be machined out of them, quite useful!

also the dish is a bit smaller diameter giving a bit more squish.

the other pistons worth looking at are minispares mega pistons. good price and strong too.

also from my calcs using the figures on that page the dish should be about 11cc, if i really is 9cc with a 53mm dia then the dish is approx 4.2mm deep, adding on the 2.5mm that can be machined out gives 14-15cc
