Hi all,

Prob been asked before but searched and couldn't find anything with a definite answer.

Which make of fibreglass front end would you recommend to buy?

Have been looking at the ABS ones and they look good but also Curley but are quite pricey!

Want to put a fibreglass round flip front on the mini this winter but also tempted by the abs 2piece clubman front!

Unsure of which makes etc to buy!

Cheers matt :)

GRP mouldings are a definate you get what you pay for. However, even the best ones won't be an amazing fit owing the individual nature of the Mini.

My ABS one I though was good and would recommend them for value and service. Sure it need work for spraying, but I enjoy winter nights in the garage.

I like nice quiet girly Minis

Why not make a steel flip front, that way it can be built on the car and will look spot on.

I've had a couple of cars with flip fronts and to be honest having the front fixed to flip is a real pain when you need to get to the front of the bay by the side of the motorway in the rain at midnight (a Mini's fav place and time to give up the will to live!!). Based on that I'd have to say buy a 2 piece. One of my friends had one of Curly and it took about 50 hours work to get it mounted and ready to paint. Another bloke I know bought a cheap on and his car was off the road for weeks and it looked poo when finished anyway!! I think the message is clear there.
I've had parts from ABS and they have always been good quality.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Yer i was thinking of buying the 2 piece front as i like the idea of having a removable bonnet!

I realise there is work involved but obviously there is so many about i dont want to get a really bad one! I'l keep looking then and see what there is before i decide!

I might price up how much a metal front will cost and see if thats worth doing!

Cheers Guys

Looks really nice Mark, How have you fitted your arches as i notice they arn't cut do you take them off when you need to flip the front?

I like the clubman front but still not sure whether to go with the clubman or round nose 2 piece front!

Cheers Matt

I just remove the 2 screws from the A panel, and the front arches will flip with the front, they have been off the car for some time while I have been working on the engine tho.

I wouldn’t cut them IMO, as they never / very rarely line up and it looks poo. *wink*
