hi did a search but there doesn't seem to be much info, just wondering if there would be any major advantages to an eight port turbo setup that would outweigh the massive cost? Only wondering as i saw there were a few people in mini world building one, any thoughts? cheers

I've not really heard or anyone doing an 8 port turbo (assuming you mean an arden/weslake head and not the 8valve bmw bike head),

there was someone on here that was looking into it but i don't know what happened to it.

a few 7 ports are in the pipline though, there was Dars which i belive was running but dunno after that, mine, Maltamini's and a guy on TMF.

the main reason for me going to a 7 port is to get away from the port robbing problem and make Fuel injection less of an issue.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

yeah the K head is 8 port.

i believe the normal 8 port heads lack chamber size (the meat to be able to make the chamber biggers anyway) needed to be able to use large amounts of boost!! *smiley*

I heard the bj autobits one was a 998, and never really worked properly but couldn't find out any more details.

I've got an arden head and a megasquirt ecu, but no money or time to do anything else at the moment.

I may get the injection running next year but probaby wont bother to try and turbo it as I don't think the results will be worth the effort.

The Weslake in it's raw form has quite a lot of meat and raw castings come up here and there but they are best polished and put in a display case. If you get a second hand one, you can bet it has about a 12cc chamber. IIRC, the weslakes were suited to a 37.something inlet and 29 EX, the Arden with it's more usual 36/31 is suited to the flow parameters but lacks chamber size. I reckon Elders head looks quite good and IIRC has quite big chambers from stock.

BMW head seems the way to go and the latest way of thinking, KAD without the pain.

Bugger off, I'm getting there.

Good point, and this

Wouldn't lowering CR using shorter con rods give me problems? I'm sure I read something that that made me think it would be too much of a problem to overcome.

yep i'd forgotton those, (although the vita was supercharged)

one thought on this subject, what about the exhaust manifold gasket? the ordinary 8 port on probbly wouldn't last too long, what could be done to improve this?

my thoughts are a solid copper or brass shim, but would this transfer to much heat from the manifold to the head?

anybody have any views/idea's on this?

All those cars used weslake 8 port heads, 649 cams and avgas! The complan one with the exhaust out of the bonnet was quite rude as well. Tecalamit FI.

Bugger off, I'm getting there.
