I am thinking of changing my head lights in my mini to some nice clear glass ones. At the moment i have Unipart sealed lights how difficult would it be to swap to mk1 golf head lights, would the wiring need to be changed and the bulb holders.

Many thanks
Chris Barkas

No idea.

But why don't you just buy a set of nice hologen conversion units?

For example http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?pid=37818

I have some Wipac one fitted to mine and am very happy with them.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Mini headlights are total crap. The Halogen conversions really are the difference between night and day.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

The plug that fits the sealed lights is the same as the halogen H4 bulbs

I like nice quiet girly Minis

Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

I have instantly fitted the Wipac H4 conversion to every Mini I have owned. Can't believe people drive on the standard lights.

Do your self a favour and fit a relay kit to take the load of the poor switch / stalk. The number of frazzed light switches I have seen on Mini's is amazing.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

In the bad old student days I ran 80W/100's with no relay! No probs for about 4 years plus. Wouldn't recomend that but those were good lights! I also had 4 50W spots so that's 400 watts on high beam. Had a relay for that though until the spots got nicked from my garage. If your going to get those C3PO look-a-like "angel eyes" you can't use any more than 55/60's as they are acrylic.

Near Daventry, midlands

the only real advantage of converting is to change the bulbs out for some decent 'cough higher cough' wattage bulbs, as the halogen ones are still PANTS

cant recomend it with the std wiring and switch though, im making up my own loom for this.

I'm not sure about legality but I never got flashed at once with higher wattage bulbs and rolled through MOT without any problems for 4 years (not that I'm reomending everyone going out and getting big fat bulbs now!). The halogen conversion did nothing for me either but the 100/80s helped a lot.
