1988 Mk 2 Golf GTi, 3 door, red, 1.8, 8v, 146k miles

Tidy interior with just a little wear on driver seat, CD player

No PAS, central locking or electric windows (less to go wrong) but it has got a factory steel sunroof and a towbar

Rear end bodywork needs TLC but car comes with good s/h tailgate

Very reliable, recently serviced, taxed until end of July 07, MOT until 3rd February 07

Even with bodywork issues, if this has tax and ticket you should be asking about £600. Someone is going to get a bargain!

I tried selling it for £500 with nearly 12 months MOT on it, but the only interest I had was from people with no NCB who were getting astronomical insurance quotes. I insure it TPF&T for £200 a year with 5 years NCB

i sold my mk3 gti with 4 months tax and 11 months test for £400. was really tidy as well and you got 40+mpg!

Neil, i was getting that with my golf too. A 19 year old lad wanted to come and view it, not seeing him insure it anytime soon! (blown vr mk2)
