i was just wondering whether there is much point putting a turbo on a 998 for the road, is the t3 really laggy on such a small engine or is it no worse than on a 1275, and would t2 improve the situation?
its just that a 998 turbo is one of the consideraions i am having to get more power n my car without getting stung too uch for insurance.
it probablty wont be the case but i reckon if i can find a company that charge a fixed rate for turbo's, intercoolers etc, then i could get cheaper insurance by having a small engine and turbo rather than a bigger n/a engine or 1275 turbo
am i just being stoopid or does that sound like a plan?

I don't really have a problem with boost threshold or lag with a T3 on a 998. But I do run a 4.1 diff which helps a lot.

Having said that I reckon a T2 would be better and it is on my list as a future mod.

The thing I found was that the camshaft is critical in having low down drivabliity, the best I've found so far is the Kent 500.

As for insurance, who knows? I guess you'll have to get a few quotes to find out.

definately, my insurance co wanted an extra ?100 off me for a modded 1275 engine with a turbo that produces 100bhp.

OR an extra ?2000 for a metro turbo engien transplant.

yeah, thats pretty much what i was trying to avoid, i hate insurance companies, i don't drive that badly .....

im gettin quite alot of lag on my t3 1293 so i suppose the t2 would be better.
