Me neither. I think that all the MOT test stations would have something to say about it as well.

understatement of the century. Given modern cars, it probably isnt necessary, but not a bad idea at the same time.

No doubt they will slip in a clause, for older vehicles to continue at 1 year intervals.

Yeah, but read the rest of the article.

It says the test could get stiffer, and more comprehensive, which would mean a higher cost= no real benefit.

Also would a change in the law be accompanied by stricter legislation detailing what you can or can't modify on your vehicle?

In Spain it is every two years then annually for cars over 10 years old.

I think new cars should be checked anyway - especially headlamp alignment, and the tester could turn the fog and driving lights off while they were at it.

*edit for spelling :)

miniturboman:

you are right i would say, but the reason for that is the fact that they are cheked once a year??
what would happen is they will be stricter on what they will let through and the bill to fix it would be x2 of what it usally is once a year and you would end up spending a larger sum of money in one go!

thats just my thoughts though!!

Dont even start on that one !!!!!!!!

There are already rules in place, that do almost prohibit such things, its just nobody enforces them.

See this thread and links included. it was doing the rounds a while back, about the DVLA's new proposals about modified cars, which also would include restored classics, and basically fuck over lots of people.
Crikey...almost 2 years since I posted it !!!!!!
