just taken off me head to find lots of oily residue in the chambers and behind the valves, engine smoked a bit, the thing is that most people find it a problem with the inlets but i have lots of oil on the back side of the exhausts, litteraly coated, i can wiggle the valve in the guide about 1.5 mill, too much?

I'd say so if I have understood you correctly.

If it's the original material guides then they are probably worn to death.

New guides aren't too bad to fit so long as you can drive them straight and take your time.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Well, it's the valve guides no doubt. If it's an unleaded head the valves are usually not worn on the stems. A+ valves are of fanstastic quality in terms of longetivity. Flow wise they can be improved.
If it's an older A head, you need to measure the stems with the correct equipment.

chuck some bronze ones in.

if you want i can supply you a valve guide setting tool and 9/32 reamer to do the job, then you just need to get your seats recut if they have original guides still in.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

I've been using bronze only in the exhaust lately. The iron ones wear much better with chrome plated stems in my book. This means more miles with cheaper stuff to be honest.
