Now then.

I was having a think just now, and it occured to me that the only big event of the year is usually Avon Park.

However, rather than the only car-orientated meet up of the year being a drag race event, I thought why not suggest we turn a trackday into a bit of a TM event?

So my plan for 2007 is to pick on a trackday, probably August time, so it won't clash with Avon Park, and hopefully the weather will be OK.

My choice of track would be Cadwell Park for a number of reasons; mainly that there is plenty of camping space. Other tracks such as Donington, Silverstone, Mallory don't have camping space in the paddock, I reckon the camping part is what would make it a good laugh, get the head gasket bar and a BBQ going in the evening.
It would also make a change from Castle Combe as I think a lot of Mini drivers have been there on the MiniWorld action days.
Oulton Park could be another alternative as there is space to camp there also, but it does seem to command a premium price over other tracks for the trackday fees.

So any thoughts guys??

Anglesey will be an interesting one for next year as they are re-modelling the layout and changing it completely, it is going to turn into quite a long track by all accounts from the short less-than one mile corner fest it used to be. Work was well underway when I was there in August.

Also do not underestimate what a slog it is to get there, it takes forever.

Not a fan of camping, but I wanted to get the mini back together to do some trackdays at Cadwell later in the year, so could well be ready for this.

Donington holds one of the worlds biggest music festivals every year. In 2006 they accomodated 75,000 people and litterally 1000s of cars!!!! How come space is an issue .... how many people are you expecting???????

LOL

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

The Stig..

Newport Pagnell

Donnington is very central, as is Mallory.

Oulton is quite far North but fecking awsome.

Cadwell is also awsome but out on a limb out near the east coast in Lincolnshire.

First Choice of those 4 would be Oulton, then Cadwell, Donnington.
and then Mallory.

Bare in mind you can rent Pit garages for peanuts at Oulton and Donny so brews and hot food ahoy!

Have to agree that cadwell is the best track for minis, you can embarrass a lot more expensive and powerful cars there in a well sorted mini!!

Will deffo have to get the 16v done by then!

Oulton has free pit garages on most trackdays but on first come basis. Donny is on every sunday and has the same. i should be there in two weeks.

i vote oulton, cadwell, donny, anglesey in that order.

Cadwell Park
Cadwell Park is one of British motorsport's best-kept secrets, despite the fact it has hosted car, bike and kart races since its creation.

The highlight of the 2007 calender is undoubtedly the British Superbike Championship which always attracts huge crowds to the Lincolnshire circuit. The BSB Championship is a firm favourite with the fans that flock in their thousands to watch the riders get airborne over the Mountain. The annual Vintage Sports Car Club meeting is another popular event, as is the fast and furious British Superkart Grand Prix, but whatever the race meeting Cadwell always separates the men from the boys.
