Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

After getting my mini running like a sewing machine all of a sudden its started running really badly again.

It struggles to start, wont idle less than 3k, but when on full throttle and boost absolutely flies!

Its really annoying me because before it ran really well, would idle perfectly, start every time.

No it wont start until you push it.

Also if you coast for a while say from 60mph to 40mph in top then put your foot down to the floor it takes about 2seconds or more before it kicks in again at all. Its really strange but i dont know where to look.

Couldnt be the dashpot could it? Only thing i never changed.

It really does fly though once you get it going.

It doesnt even push off very well, you have to keep it in gear turning over while you push it for 10seconds or so before it chugs into life.

Tempted to rip the engine out as this stage and completely rebuild it, but its just such a good engine when its running fine.

cheers *evil*

All those checks you did before - fuel pressure, spark test using a tiny lamp, etc.... do them all again...

Don't assume it is whatever you didn't change last time - it is simply that something else has gone amiss. Did you get round to rebuilding the carb last time?

Sounds like alot of fun is in store tonight again!

No i didnt rebuild the carb, i did change them over however and found no real difference.

thing is it did exactly the same before when it broke down last then those sypmtoms dissapeared and i got some new ones which i cured with the earth strap.

think ill check electrical connections first, maybe just that.

Hmm turbo minis, who wants them?! lol!

Atleast its not an engine ive spent ages building, if i had then i would be even more annoyed!
