New tyres always seem to have some kind of grease, lubricant on them im guessing to protect against moisture?

Phone your local tyre garage, they would know, as long as there not like the tyre garages around my way! :)

In bags out of sunlight as said...

make sure they are stored vertically if off the rims and horizontally if on rims - this keeps them round *happy*

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

why vertically if not on rims?

surely this will put them out of round too?

Mine are stored in a dark cool place on their sidewalls.

I would've thought kwikfit and other tyres places store them vertically as it's easier and safer for picking/restocking. Storing many tyres on their sides would mean a lot of weight on the bottom tyres and is probably not a good use of space. I could be wrong though :)

I think neil's got it. also their tyers shouldn't be stored for long periods.

I personally just take mine off the car and stack them in the corner of the garage. As long as they aren't in bright direct sunlight then deterioration will be slow.

also, if you want to reduce sunlight with binbags, then get good ones. cheap bin bags are see-through, although pricy ones are too to some extent.

Just checked our info at work...

Perillie (too tired to spell!) say store them virtically when off the rims!

I wonder why!

On F1 cars they pump the tyres up with nitrogen, less pressure change when they warm up.Also compressed air contains water
